Volunteer Opportunities

SLED is a completely volunteer-run organization, everything we are able to accomplish is attributable to the unending devotion and hard work of our volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out the survey below. We always need more volunteers, below are some examples of volunteer roles we need help with.

1. Intern

SLED is interested in employing an intern. However, we cannot pay a salary (except for reimbursement purposes). We can write glowing letters of recommendation and provide great skills to put on resumes though!

As to job responsibilities, there are a couple of different roles we could use help with, and the intern could pick which one they were most interested in:

Social Media Coordinator- expanding our capacity and keeping us updated and active on Facebook, Twitter, etc
Community Outreach Coordinator- setting up dates and times for SLED to make presentations at community groups and organization meetings and events, then helping with the presentations
Press Coordinator- writing articles for Patch, help write press releases and opinion editorials, make press calls to pitch stories

2. Public Relations

writing press releases
plan and write e-mail communications
direct SLED volunteers on press kits and collaterals
coordinate social media communications

3. Eat Out for Education Coordinator

assist SLED Board and Staff to expand participating restaurants
assist SLED Board and Staff to increase participation by residents and businesses each month
develop flyer and coupon holder for better dissemination of coupons
