All students will achieve or exceed the standards established by the district as a result of:

In order to ensure that our students are able to reach their highest potential as learners, the Jefferson staff has committed to the following:
- Implement Culturally Responsive teaching and learning strategies to decrease the achievement gap through targeted staff development and one-to-one coaching.
- Using the cycle of inquiry at grade levels and school-wide to assess and reflect on teaching strategies that result in improved student performance and closing the achievement gap.
- Regularly utilizing curriculum guides, adopted materials and other resources to teach the six traits in writing.
- Integrating writing across the curriculum.
- Exploring and implementing ways to allow all students access to the curriculum.
- Regularly analyzing student work and planning curricula with other teachers of their grade level

Success Stories:
- Created Urban Wilderness Garden two years ago in conjunction with a partnership with "Kids for the Bay". Garden serves as an outdoor classroom and includes several habitats. First year was funded by partnership, second year funded by PTA. Currently does not have a coordinator.
- Measured success with integration technology program, all students K-5 touch a computer 2-3 times a week.
- For two years the staff have been trained on culturally relevant curriculum which has shown visible results in increasing African American students' achievement rates.
- Jefferson was the first San Leandro school to fund Playworks for the 2010-2011 school year. The program increases student activity and discipline.
Jefferson does not have any current DonorsChoose projects.
